SONIC THE MOVIE

The movie begins with Robotnik in the shadows claiming that his latest creation is complete--a robot that looks like Sonic--except for the necessary biological data it needs. The robot is referred to as "Hyper Metal Sonic."

An old owl, called "the Old Man," is flying a plane and heading toward South Island. On South Island, Sonic is trying to listen to some music while soaking some rays, while Tails tests out his new body board, which he wets up Sonic a couple of times by creating a wave. Tails' fun is short lived as he starts shouting for help. Sonic ignores Tails' cries saying that it's probably nothing, until he's heard enough and says "Shut up, Tails!" That's when he sees Tails is barely ahead of the Old Man's plane, which is flying so low that it barely misses hitting Sonic on the beach. Tails says that they have to help him, but Sonic says that Tails is the one who can fly. Tails yells, "You're no help!" and goes off to help the Old Man by himself. Tails helps steady the Old Man's plane, but it's heading for the underside of a cliff. Tails cries out for help and this time Sonic goes into action and grabs Tails and the Old Man before the plane can crash. The Old Man tells them that he's here to give them a message from the President, but he can't remember it. Sonic asks him if it was for him and Tails to meet the President at the President's house, which the Old Man tells Sonic is the correct message. Sonic and Tails leave in Tornado, while the Old Man stays to watch the place.

When Sonic and Tails arrive in the President's home, they find that Robotnik is in the President's chair as they easily take care of the 'bots that try to attack them. Before they can attack Robotnik though, he shows them his hostages: The President and his daughter, Sara. Robotnik then explains why he's done what he's done. Supposedly, Mecha-Robotnik has taken over Robotropolis and is overloading the generators. If the generators aren't shut down by sundown, planet Freedom will be destroyed. Robotnik says that Sonic should be the one to stop Mecha-Robotnik since he's the fastest. Sonic says "no" but Sara asks Sonic to do it. Sonic changes his story to "why should he believe Robotnik when 99 times out of 100 he's lying?" Tails says that this could be that one other time. Sonic agrees to do it, but before he and Tails leave, Robotnik gives Tails a wrist navigator to lead them to Robotropolis (no one except Robotnik is supposed to know where it is).

Sonic and Tails take Tornado through a portal that takes them from the Land of the Sky to the Land of the Dark (where Robotropolis is located). The turbulence is terrible and Tails just manages to land Tornado without killing them, but the plane is damaged. Meanwhile, in the President's house, Robotnik beats Sara at a video game for the zillionth time. Suddenly, a robotic suit busts into the room and Sara and Robotnik go inside it and leave despite the President's cries for Sara to wait.

In the Land of the Dark, Tails points to the direction of Robotropolis and he and Sonic take off. However, the route is filled with many traps, but Sonic totals a couple of 'bots in their way until a warp zone appears and they end up in a deserted city (it looks like a deserted New York City with vines taking over the buildings). They go up the tallest building (Empire State Building look alike) to check the area and figure out which direction they need to go. Before they go, there's a crash of thunder which causes Tails to clutch onto Sonic since Tails hates thunder.

They don't go too far before they're confronted by Mecha-Robotnik, which looks similar to the robotic suit that busted into the President's house. Sonic and Tails run circles around it and Tails even causes Mecha-Robotnik to punch himself in the face, which causes Sonic and Tails to laugh like hyenas for a moment. Sonic says that they don't have time to deal with this robot right now. Tails says that Robotropolis is right across the bridge, so Sonic tells Mecha-Robotnik that they've got to go, while Tails makes funny faces at the Mecha-Robotnik. Mecha-Robotnik wants to continue to play and shows that he has rocket boosters and the ability to fly, which causes Sonic and Tails to say, "Uh, oh!" They take off as fast as they can with Mecha-Robotnik in pursuit. Mecha-Robotnik nearly grabs Tails, so Sonic goes back and gets Tails. Mecha-Robotnik blasts the bridge ahead of them so that Sonic has to stop and then he forces them over. Sonic and Tails pretend that they fell into the water and drowned. However, Mecha-Robotnik wasn't fooled and this time starts shooting glue at them instead of laser fire. He gets Tails stuck against a fence and then fires four missles at Sonic. Sonic runs away as the missles follow him and suddenly there's an explosion. Not too far away, Knuckles was digging in the ground and sees an explosion just took place and decides to investigate.

Mecha-Robotnik says that now all he has to do is get rid of Tails, but Tails says that those missles didn't get the better of Sonic. To prove his point, Sonic is riding one missle, which is heading for Mecha-Robotnik. Sonic jumps off at the last second just before the missle hits Mecha-Robotnik. However, the explosion caused Sonic to get stuck in some of the glue on the ground. Unfortunately, the missle didn't destroy Mecha-Robotnik who causes the ground around Sonic to sink as the water level rises. He's about to blast Sonic, when suddenly something hits his arm and causes him to fall over and the shot misses badly. Then, Knuckles frees Tails from the glue and tells Tails to save Sonic, who's still about to drown as the water rises. Mecha-Robotnik wonders what hit him as he gets kicked by Knuckles. Tails' tails are stuck so he can't fly, but he uses a slab of concrete as a bodyboard to get to Sonic. Knuckles runs around Mecha-Robotnik to avoid the laser fire, but doesn't pay attention to the ground and gets stuck in some glue. Fortunately, Mecha-Robotnik has run out of bullets so he can't blast Knuckles, so he grabs him instead and starts squeezing. Tails finally manages to pull Sonic free from the glue and Sonic buzz-saws through the wrist of Mecha-Robotnik that's holding Knuckles. Mecha-Robotnik decides to retreat, but Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails have other ideas. Knuckles grabs Sonic and glides up and then flings Sonic toward Mecha-Robotnik. Sonic uses his triple spin to go through Mecha-Robotnik and above him. Tails gets to Sonic and sends Sonic toward Mecha-Robotnik and Sonic does the same thing again. Tails grabs Sonic and the trio watch Mecha-Robotnik blow up and crash.

Unknown to the trio, at the wreckage of Mecha-Robotnik, Robotnik and Sara get out the robot. Robotnik claims that Sonic may have gotten by this trap, but he'll find something much more dangerous at Robotropolis. Sara smacks Robotnik and says that Robotnik better not hurt her Sonic. Meanwhile, Sonic thanks Knuckles for his help and Knuckles basically says don't mention it. Knuckles plans on going back to treasure hunting. The sunset is blinding, so Knuckles puts on his shades and notices something. After a few moments, Sonic and Tails see the something as well. It's Robotropolis and Sonic and Tails say bye to Knuckles and head toward the city. They don't get far before Knuckles catches up to them and says that he can't let them go it alone. Knuckles glides ahead of them and Sonic tells Knuckles to wait up and Tails follows behind giving a thumbs up.

Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails are at the entrance of the building with the generator and go inside. They are attacked by some robots, which Knuckles tells them that he'll take care of. Sonic and Tails race ahead and find that there's only 20 seconds left until the generator explodes. They run onto the conveyor belt, but are having a problem reaching the controls. Sonic tells Tails to fly, but the lever is too heavy for Tails to push down. Knuckles comes into the room, but Sonic, with 1 second left, jumps onto the controls and that shuts the generator down. Suddenly, green shells enclose around Sonic, who seems to be getting shocked. After a few moments, Sonic is released from the cells and starts to fall, but Knuckles catches him. Tails flies over to them and then they witness something moving in the generator. After a flash of light, they find a robot that looks like Sonic (Hyper Metal Sonic) standing right in front of Sonic.

The voice of Mecha-Robotnik is heard as some 'bots bring up what's left of Mecha-Robotnik through the ground. The machine then falls apart and Sonic and Tails recognize Robotnik and Sara. Knuckles accuses them of being Mecha-Robotnik, which causes Sara to cry. She says that it's not her fault and that it was all a part of Robotnik's evil scheme. Robotnik's 'bots grab Sara and Sonic orders Robotnik to release Sara. When he ignores Sonic, Sonic runs to attack Robotnik, but Hyper Metal Sonic beats Sonic and stands in Sonic's way. Robotnik explains that Sonic wasn't being shocked before, but had his biological data transfered into the robot duplicate. Robotnik built the robot to destroy Sonic. Sonic says that he's got to destroy the imposter and says that he doesn't want any help. A fight begins between Sonic and Metal Sonic (I'm dropping the Hyper for the rest of the story) but Metal Sonic is winning round one and grabs Sonic by the leg and flies away with him. Tails starts to follow, but Knuckles tells him that neither of them can keep up with them so they have to come up with something else. Robotnik takes Sara with him in his vehicle and is watching the life readings of Sonic and Metal Sonic. Sonic stands on top of a mountain, when Metal Sonic surprises him and kicks Sonic off. Robotnik is delighted when Sonic's life readings go dead, while Metal Sonic's are still strong.

At South Island, the Old Man is confronted by what he thinks is Sonic, but it's really Metal Sonic, and ends up screaming. Tails and Knuckles get Tornado and then head for South Island. When they reach South Island, they see it's a mess. Tails remembers that the Old Man was staying here and the two go searching for him. However, the Old Man finds them and is wearing Sonic's favorite clothes, which he insists Sonic put on him and then flew away. Knuckles and Tails know that had to be Metal Sonic since Sonic can't fly. Meanwhile, Sonic wakes up from his fall and remembers that he was fighting Metal Sonic and that he has to stop him. Tails meanwhile is fixing Robotnik's navigator to help him and Knuckles find Sonic. Tails says that Metal Sonic is like Sonic's identical twin and whatever one knows the other knows. Tails tells Knuckles that they'll both be in the same place.

Meanwhile, to make Sara happy, Robotnik gives her a dress, which perks her up right away. Elsewhere, the cities of planet Freedom are being demolished and based on the pictures the President thinks it's Sonic doing the damage. The President calls South Island. Knuckles is trying to repair Tornado and gets angry saying that they should know he's busy. Knuckles finally answers it rudely and is surprised to find out that it's the President calling (which he only finds out when the Old Man comes and says "Hello, Mr. President"). Robotnik tells Sara that after Metal Sonic destroys planet Freedom, they'll be the only ones left alive and he plans on marrying her. Sara can't stand the thought of that though and starts throwing a tantrum. Knuckles and Tails explain what's happened to the President. The President says that it can't be possible for Metal Sonic to destroy planet Freedom. However, Knuckles tells them that it's possible and goes into a long detailed explanation of what needs to be done and what would happen to the planet. They tell the President not to tell Sonic any of this. Unfortunately, Sonic heard everything Knuckles said anyway as he had entered the room the President was occupying while they were all listening to Knuckles. Metal Sonic heads north toward the polar area of the planet (that's where the weak spot is according to Knux). Sonic takes off after Metal Sonic. Knuckles and Tails hurry up with fixing Tornado and the navigator so that they can follow too. Robotnik notices Metal Sonic heading north and he and Sara go into warp drive to get there.

Metal Sonic causes the lava to start heading for the bridge, which if destroyed would destroy the planet. Sonic gets there, but realizes he's too late to stop Metal Sonic. That doesn't stop Sonic from wanting to total Metal Sonic, and those two start their final fight which'll end when only one Sonic is standing. Robotnik and Sara arrive on the scene next. Sonic and Metal Sonic charge each other and then go up into the air. Sonic sends Metal Sonic into Robotnik's vehicle, but Sara's kicking of Metal Sonic's head affects Sonic just as much as (probably more than actually) Metal Sonic. Robotnik tries to grab Sonic, but Sonic eludes him. However, Sara falls out the vehicle, but she's rescued by Knuckles, who catches her just before she can hit the ice. Tails then uses Tornado to hit Metal Sonic to help Sonic out. However, that put him in range for Robotnik's missles. Robotnik fires a rabbit-missle and a turtle-missle. The rabbit-missle zooms out and blows up Tornado, while the turtle-missle moves slowly and is considered a dud by Robotnik.

Tails falls into the snow and starts a huge snowball. Sara is squealing in Knuckles arms and finally causes Knuckles to slip on the ice. Robotnik tries to get Sara, but the Tails' snowball consumes Knuckles and Sara and the three head into a mountain of snow. Tails accidentally grabs Sara's breasts and Knuckles is about to lecture Tails when a rock hits Knuckles as Sonic and Metal Sonic continue fighting. However it's not going to matter if the lava reaches the bridge, they'll all be dead. Tails tells Knuckles to do something, but Knuckles isn't sure. Sara calls Knuckles a "man" and gives him a kiss (THAT WORKS!). Knuckles goes into action and tunnels into the ground and diverts the lava from the bridge. Unfortunately, Knuckles' hat catches on fire from the lava. Meanwhile, Sonic and Metal Sonic continue fighting and play a game of try to bop the echidna. Everytime Knuckles tries to get topside, he narrowly misses being stepped on by one of them, but finally Sonic does accidentally hit Knuckles. Knuckles gives Sonic a thumbs down.

Metal Sonic finally grabs Sonic's throat and is strangling him. Sara is upset and keeps kicking and punching the robot with no effect. Tails however uses the navigator that he tinkered with earlier to short circuit Metal long enough for Sonic to get free and then hit Metal Sonic so hard that Metal Sonic is sent flying. Suddenly, the President and the Old Man arrive planning on helping, but their vehicle crashes into the bridge. It doesn't destroy the bridge, but the vehicle is close enough to the lava to catch on fire. Before Sonic and Tails can rescue them, Metal Sonic comes back and blocks them. Tails tells Sonic to rescue the President while he takes care of Metal Sonic with the navigator. However, Robotnik blasts the navigator to bits, which means Metal Sonic and Sonic go at it again. Knuckles and Tails try to break through the glass to get the President and Old Man out, but it's not working. However, Sonic is winning this time and he sends Metal toward the vehicle. Unfortunately, the vehicle explodes, but Metal Sonic rescues the President and the Old Man then drops them on top of Tails and Knuckles, respectively. Metal Sonic loses altitude and falls into the lava pit, but he's not in the lava yet. Sonic goes to rescue him, but Knuckles tries to hold him back. Sonic's hand reaches Metal Sonic's hand, but Metal Sonic slaps it away. Metal Sonic says that there's only one Sonic and then lets himself be consumed by the lava, while Sonic yells, "Metal!"

Everyone is relieved that this whole thing is over. However, Robotnik says that he still has a copy of Sonic's bio data on a disk, so he'll make another robot. This time it won't have Sonic's personality intrude its programming. While Robotnik rants on, that turtle-missle goes by everyone's head, grabs onto the disk, and then explodes. The disk is gone and everyone is happy, except for Knuckles. Knuckles gives Sonic a punch on the head and then runs off. Sonic starts chasing him and asks him what was that for. Knuckles says it's payback for hitting him earlier. Sara, the President, and the Old Man climb into Robotnik's vehicle to chase Sonic, especially Sara who wants to marry Sonic. When the vehicle catches up to Knuckles, Sonic, and Tails (who followed Sonic when Sonic chased Knux), Sonic says bye to Knuckles and speeds away, while Knuckles says "Wait up Sonic!"
