Tails arrives on the Floating Island to wish Knuckles a new year but the two are almost buried in an avalanche. Leaving the Ice Cap Zone for the more temperate Mushroom Hill, a hurricane strikes. Knuckles starts to get suspicious and thumps the ground, revealing --

-- Sonic! It's all a test to see if Knuckles is up to it! Tails was in on it too. Knuckles assures the pair that he is, and Tails cheers that now they can get back to the hogmanay celebrations. And as punishment for the trick, Knuckles grins and cracks the awful pun - in Sonic's case, hedgehogmanay celebrations!
