When it comes to the budding relationship between Knuckles and Julie-Su, fans seem to be of two minds – they’re either totally for, or totally against it. There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground.

Even though they’re Soultouched. Even though Lara-Su is ‘living’ proof of how serious their relationship is going to get, I decided to take a different approach, and discovered something rather interesting…

As we all know by now, Knuckles’ ‘birthday’ is the 2^nd of February. That puts him slap-bang in the middle of Aquarius. Whether they intended it or not, Sonic Team and Archie Comics have given Knuckles a fairly typical Aquarian personality.

Aquarians are highly individual, inventive and creative people. They are visionaries and highly intuitive. They tend to take life and work rather seriously (and Knuckles definitely takes his job seriously). They are insightful, imaginative and often have a rebellious streak. They are drawn to ‘caring’ professions and abhor class differences and prejudices. They hate to be thought of as better than they are ("I’m just a regular Joe doing his job,").

However, friends are uncertain of how they feel. Their shyness is often mistaken for coldness or indifference, though they actually feel things very deeply and loyalty is one of their greatest qualities. They are also prone to bouts of anger (and how!).

Julie-Su is a little harder to place on the Zodiac, but judging by the release of Knuckles #4, the issue that introduced her to the world, she is a Gemini.

Geminis think and act very quickly and logically, but they never delve deeply into any one subject. They are enthusiastic and have a natural affinity with children (guess she’ll make a good mum, then), some never truly growing up. They hate being alone and are charming, witty, vivacious and clever people.

They do, however, lack concentration and become bored easily. They can be very argumentative (as can be seen with Vector), but due to their charm and wit, they usually win (as can also be seen with Vector). They love to travel and enjoy taking risks, for they refuse to believe in danger. They are fickle in their relationships and often leave a trail of broken hearts behind them. But if they manage to find the right partner they can achieve the stability they need to reach their full potential.

Both Aquarius and Gemini are Air signs, sharing the element with Libra. And ‘like’ signs are considered the most compatible, the greatest match, when it comes to love and long-term relationships, like, dare I say it, marriage.

So it would seem that even the stars are set in their favour…
